When I got home from vacation, I had a nice surprise in my inbox! Carolyn from Kindergarten: Holding Hands and Sticking Together nominated me for the Liebster Award, an award for new blogs. It was such a nice surprise and so unexpected. I'm still so amazed that there are others out there that really do read my blog and keep coming back for more of my randomness! Liebster means "dearest," "lovely," "cute," "beloved," and "welcome." Isn't that cool?? And if you haven't visited Carolyn's blog, you should. She's very sweet.
Here are my "rules" for accepting the nomination:
To accept the nomination I must:
1. Link back to the blog that nominated me

<insert drumroll here>
Please go check them out. They all have terrific ideas and lots to share. And, really, how cute is that little elephant??
OK, now here's my answers to the questions Carolyn gave me. I hope I don't bore you too much!
1. How do you spend your free time?
What free time? Ha! When I do have free time, I like to spend it just doing nothing with my family. Sitting on the porch, maybe fishing. And of course, I use the time to blog and create things for my classroom!
2. What is your favorite candy?
Tough one. Probably Peppermint Patties.
3. What is a favorite childhood memory?
My entire family on my mom's side used to spend a week at a house on Lake Erie every summer. So many memories were made during those weeks. I'm so glad we all spent that time together.
4. If you had to live in a decade other than the current one, which would you choose?
Hmmm. Maybe the 50s or 60s? I love reading about old Hollywood, the Kennedy's, the Rat Pack, the space program, etc.
5. Chinese, Mexican, or Italian for dinner?
I love them all so I guess it would depend on the mood. The kids won't do Chinese so hubby and I save that for date nights.
6. Your life is going to become a script for a movie. Who would you want to play you?
Sandra Bullock maybe? She's beautiful AND funny!
7. Not counting family, what do you think your greatest accomplishment is so far in life?
Teaching Kindergarteners to read and love books!
8. What is your favorite TV show?
There are so many! I'm a big Survivor fan. Right now we really like to watch The Following and Justified, too. Oh, and Game of Thrones. See--I could go on and on!
9. What was your favorite childhood toy?
Barbies. I could set up the whole town and play for days when my mom didn't make me pick it all up each night!
10. You can have a half-hour conversation with anyone no longer living. Who do you choose? Why?
My grandfather. He passed away right before I started my senior year of high school. I often tell my husband and kids how much they would have loved him so I'd love for them to be able to meet him. Even if only for a half hour.
11. You can have a half-hour conversation with any fictional character. Who do you choose? Why?
Another tough one. There are so many! I'd love to talk with Skeeter or Aibileen from The Help. I'd also love to meet Stephanie Plum. She's hilarious!
And now 11 random facts . . .
I'll keep it short. You're probably tired of reading about me by now!
1. I'm an only child.
2. I teach in the same school building that my grandparents, parents, myself, and my kids attended.
3. I love love love Pepsi.
4. I love love love Walt Disney World.
5. I have an extensive Mickey Mouse collection.
6. We raise hogs for kids to show as 4H projects and may or may not have around 400 piglets from time to time.
7. I love game shows.
8. I can never remember how old I am because in my mind I'll always be 25.
9. I wish I was a good singer.
10. I still have snowmen out above my kitchen cabinets. I never took them down. Don't judge.
11. I love attending sporting events and watching sports on TV.
OK, enough about me. Here's the 11 questions for my nominees to answer. I can't wait to learn more about you all!
1. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
2. What's the funniest thing that has ever happened while you were teaching?
3. Do you collect anything?
4. What's your favorite household chore and why?
5. What's your least favorite household chore and why?
6. What's your favorite thing to do when you get a night out?
7. Where did you go to college and did you originally major in something other than education?
8. What's the best concert you've ever been to?
9. Favorite all-time movie?
10. What's the best thing about blogging?
11. If you could leave for a vacation tomorrow and go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
And if you stuck with me this far, I hope you learned something about me! Now go check out the bloggers I nominated and learn something about them, too (but give them time to get their post up--Ha!)
Lisa, it was SO much fun to get to know you better! :) Fishing is so much fun and relaxing- we used to fish more when the kids were smaller and we had a boat. YES- I would LOVE to talk to Skeeter or Aibileen, too. (And my grandpa- even for 1/2 an hour!) And... have you ever put peppermint patties on top of brownies? YUM. Just boxed brownies- and like 2 min. before they are done- put peppermint patties on top- back in the over for 2 min- then spread the peppermint patties like frosting. Yum. :) It was an accidental recipe one year after we had lots left over from Halloween! Ha ha!
